CAD Technician

Location: Thame, Oxfordshire
Salary: £30,000 – £37,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm

Are you a CAD Technician with SolidWorks experience looking for a varied, hands-on role within a friendly and supportive business?

We are working with an established manufacturing company based in Thame, who are looking to recruit a CAD Technician to join their close-knit team.

The business works on a variety of customer projects, adapting and developing existing product designs to meet individual requirements. While some projects involve working from initial concepts, the majority focus on modifying, refining and detailing existing designs to ensure they meet specific customer briefs and can be manufactured effectively.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business where no two projects are quite the same. You will work closely with customers and the wider team, taking designs through to detailed manufacturing specifications and supporting projects through to production.

SolidWorks experience is essential, but previous experience within this particular industry is not required, as full training will be provided on the specialist software and manufacturing processes.

The Role

This is a varied position combining CAD design, technical drawings, project coordination and manufacturing support. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Using CAD and associated software to produce and adapt bespoke designs in line with customer briefs.
  • Modifying and refining existing designs to accommodate specific customer requirements.
  • Creating 3D models, technical drawings and visual renders.
  • Occasionally developing designs from initial concepts through to production.
  • Producing CNC programmes using AlphaCAM (training can be provided).
  • Sourcing appropriate fixtures and fittings for product assembly.
  • Supporting estimating activities and preparing customer quotations.
  • Attending site visits and carrying out measurements and templating where required.
  • Liaising with customers to gather detailed project information and ensure designs meet their requirements.
  • Monitoring project progress and working closely with the manufacturing team to ensure designs translate effectively into production.

About You

We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes a practical approach to problem-solving and is happy to get involved in different aspects of the business.

Essential:

  • SolidWorks experience.
  • Reasonable working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence.

Just as importantly, you will be:

  • A genuine team player who enjoys working collaboratively.
  • Supportive and approachable, with a positive attitude.
  • Someone who enjoys variety, new challenges and learning new skills.
  • A natural problem-solver with good attention to detail.
  • Intellectually curious and keen to understand how things work.
  • Practical and hands-on, happy to muck in and help wherever needed.
  • Comfortable communicating with customers and colleagues at all levels.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary of £30,000 – £37,000, depending on experience.
  • Monday to Friday working hours, 8:30am – 5:30pm.
  • Full training on specialist industry software and bespoke manufacturing processes.
  • The opportunity to develop your skills within a specialist manufacturing environment.
  • A varied role where you can see your designs progress through to finished products.
  • A friendly, close-knit and supportive team environment where teamwork is genuinely valued.

Interested?

If you have SolidWorks experience and are looking for a role where you can develop your technical skills, work on interesting bespoke projects and become part of a supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.
